>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> good morning. the woman who became infamous for lie about finding a finger in a cup of chili in 2005 is in legal trouble again. police are talking about it at a news conference right now in san jose. this time, the 57-year-old anna ayala is accused of lying to protect her son over a gun incident. amy hollyfield joining us now from the women's prison. she and her son will be in court today? >> at 1:30. right now at jail they are preparing to transport her to court to face her new charges. we went inside the jail and asked her if she would give us an interview on camera and officials sat the jail say she told them i'm not interviewing

with nobody. here is her new mug shot, this is just taken yesterday after her arrest. she now is charged with being an accessory to a felony and filing a false police report. investigators say she lied to them to cover up for her son and she tampered wit, coming up with another hoax. she is known for the hoax she pulled in 2005. anna ayala spent four years in prison for that claiming she found a finger in a bowl of chili from a san jose wendy's hoping to sue the restaurant. she planted the finger and it belonged to an aquantitiance who lost it in an industrial accident. we tracked down her former landlord this morning and he is not surprised to hear she was arrested. he had to evict her after three months back in 2010. >> for me she talk add good story but it ended up a nightmare so i had to get her

out of my place. it wasn't -- she had a really nice place new when she moved in and she crossed every line she could and i had to ask her to leave. >> for her current case, this is what happened: her 26-year-old son accidentally shot himself in the ankle. he is on parole and not supposed to have a gun so the coverup began. they say they said her son was shot and gave detail about the men who shot him and then she told them he was chasing a dog when he was shot and police started investigating and they say the store unraveled and figured she was lying. she got rid of the gun so she tampered with evidence. she will be arraigned and police will talk about this case this morning. stay with us on this developing story. our reporter is on the story right now and we will have it later in the newscast.

>> thank you, amy hollyfield. >> on the peninsula a busy road in redwood city is re-opened after a deadly crash. the accident happened on bayshore road at seaport boulevard near the 101 freeway before 4:00 a.m. the c.h.p. closed traffic in both directions while officers collected evidence. they say the crash involves only one car. the coroner has identified the victim as 20-year-old of redwood city. new this morning police are looking for a man who exposed to himself to a teen girl walking home from school. police say the man drove up to the girl, called her name, and exposed himself when she wouldn't answer. officers searched the area but did not fin the man. >> oscar pistorius is free this morning with reports on where he has settled hours after a judge released the accused girlfriend murder on bail. katie marzullo is live in the newsroom. it was a long drawn out process.

the fact he wasn't a flight risk and he wouldn't be a a danger to the community which are standard bail conditions. >> other conditions include no gun, no passport and no going to the place he shot and killed reeva steenkamp maintaining he thought his girlfriend was an intruder. it is believed objection office will stay with his uncle. >> we are relieved the fact that oscar got bail today. but, at the same time, we are in mourning for the death of reeva steenkamp. >> experts say the ruling is a huge victory for oscar pistorius. >> the reality is the prosecution's case is not as strong as when the bail hearing started. >> the prosecution is arguing oscar pistorius killed reeva steenkamp on purpose after a fight. >> the next court date is june 4. >> senator jerry hill has legislation to make sure the

high-speed rail project does not include new tracks for the peninsula. the bill has specific language to significant the high-speed rail is run on two existing tracks. the officials already promised hill they will not increase the number of tracks to four on the peninsula but a lot of neighbors oppose the idea and the deal includes having caltrain run on electric power making high-speed rail and caltrain come pat ill the those who want to rename san francisco airport in honor of harvey milk will hold a rally at noon. there is legislation to rename the airport harvey milk san francisco international, the first openly gay elected official who was assassinated along with mayor mascone in 1978. organizers say the rally is to urge the other supervisors to support the legislation. voters may get to decide on the name change in november. >> a police officer off duty is

>> breaking news in oakland a man wrongly convicts of attempted murder is set free today. a judge has just ordered the release of 51-year-old ronald ross after spending seven years in prison. his conviction was overturned last week with help from the innocence project. ross was convicted in 2006 of attempted murder. the victim of a west oakland shooting picked him from a photo

lineup. he was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. >> student demonstrators got the meeting they wanted over the budget crisis facing the troubled school after an all-night protest. the chancellor will meet with them. cornell bernard joins us with the developing news. >> the student demonstrators have just vacated the administration hall after getting what they want, a meeting next week with the chancellor about the crisis here at city college. >> a small group of student protesters camped outside demanding to speak with city college chancellor. police were standing by. we took no action. >> everything has been civil. the police have respected us. >> the protesters complained there has been a lack of communication between the students and the administration. >> a campus rally on thursday echoed fears there will be cuts to student services and lay off of school staff in an effort to

fend off possible closing of the school because of declining enrollment. >> late this morning came word that the chancellor will meet with students on monday. >> it feels good for students to be heard and for us to have the community support and support from other students, a lost students are worried about the closure of the school and we want did reassure them we will do everything to make sure that does not happen. >> the meeting with the chancellor happens monday at 9:30 with a delegation five student demonstrators. city college has until march 15 to show a commission it has fixed more than 12 deficiencies. failure to do so means the largest community college in the united states would have to shut down. we are live at city college for abc7 news. >> happening right now, a major milestone has been reached in the restoring of oakland's lake merritt. today, a 750' section of the channel is opened to boaters and kayakers the first time in 140

santa rosa at 57 and napa at 52, concord is 56, and los gatos at 60. here is what i am thinking for the forecast cycle, today, mostly sunny with a few high clouds and mild temperatures, not so breezy,g us to warm a couple of degrees and a sprinkle with the cold front, and when it goes by, the only game in time, high pressure is back and we will be dry and warmer-than-average throughout the extended forecast. today, we are going to dance around averages and we will be two degrees warmer in napa and possibly two degrees cooler in san jose. here is a look at today's temperatures starting at the coast where it is breezy but not so much as yesterday mid-to-upper fists for you and we will have, say, low-to-mid 60's for everyone else around the bay and inland. if you are traveling the state, by the afternoon hours some of the light rain moving to eureka and clouds increasing at tahoe and 49 and mid-60's in the central valley and upper 60's

around los angeles. here is the forecast for lake tahoe, looking at increasing clouds, temperature of about 49 today but 45 with light snow tonight and a couple of inches at best but some fresh powder and by sunday it is gone. getting there tomorrow, probably okay, even with the light snow. back at home, tonight, you can see the cloud cover even a few radar returns and in green we have the sprinkles with temperatures in the upper 30's to low 40's and mid-to-upper 40's around the bay and toward the coast. high pressure steering the storms to the north and here we will get clipped, an inside slider headed more, toward, washington, idaho, nevada, and utah than us, so when you have the inside sliders coming through they bring a dusting of snow to the sierra which is starting tonight and we are on the tail end with no green because that is how little chance we have of rain. tomorrow morning we will see
